Ethanol Summit 2007

Conceived as a platform for in-depth discussions about the present and future of renewable energies in Brazil and the world, the Ethanol Summit was developed in 2007 by the Brazilian Sugarcane Industry Association (UNICA), the top organization representing Brazilian sugar-energy companies (producers of ethanol, sugar and bioelectricity).UNICA’s 118 member companies account for more than half the sugarcane harvested in the country. The event featured more than 100 speakers, from government officials to investors, researchers and leading executives from Brazil and throughout the world. Plenary sessions included keynote addresses by global personalities like investor George Soros and the former prime-minister of Spain, Felipe Gonzalez, while theme-specific panels were held in simultaneously covering topics like technology, research and development, sustainability, markets and investments, political and parliamentary support and the Brazil Project. More than 1200 participants came from all sectors connected to the production, distribution and use of biofuels in Brazil and around the world.
